It's one thing to hear about renewal — it's another to see renewal practices for yourself. You're invited to join us on October 23-26 for Church Renewal Weekend (CRW), hosted by Southland Church in Steinbach, Manitoba.

When Ray Duerksen began pastoring Southland Church in 1995, things looked bleak. The small church was facing division, financial hardship, and dwindling leadership. Yet as Ray began discovering and implementing the eight renewal practices, lasting renewal did come to Southland. The church grew in size, a strong prayer culture took root, and the congregation practiced radical generosity. Their incredible renewal journey continues to this day.
But God didn't stop at one church. In 2012, God led Ray to take the practices he learned and help other pastors replicate this renewal in their own churches. As a result, Church Renewal International (CRI) was born! Thanks to CRI, many churches around the world have experienced the same renewal as Southland.
What to expect
If this is your first time attending
If you have never attended a CRW, this weekend is designed to show you what a church that is growing in renewal can look like, and give you hope that if God could renew Southland, he can renew your church too! As a participant, you will experience many of the tools and practices that have renewed churches around the world by:
- 1 Attending a Set Free! Retreat, which is an opportunity to learn and practice biblical principles of confession, forgiveness, and inner healing.
- 2 Participating in the monthly corporate prayer meeting alongside the Southland congregation.
- 3 Attending Southland’s weekend worship service.
- 4 Connecting with CRI pastors and meeting our global directors and other CRI staff, giving you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about mentoring.
If you have already attended
If you have attended a past CRW, our goal is to encourage and guide you as you pursue renewal in your church. To help you get more from a CRW, we've made some exciting new additions to the event:
- 1 We will be offering the Empower Retreat in addition to the Set Free! so you can choose either of these events to taste and see for yourself.
- 2 We're hosting a leadership workshop with Ray Duerksen and other workshops led by experienced pastors in the renewal movement to help you in your implementation journey.
Plus, if you bring a pastor from a church that is not connected to CRI, we'll refund your registration fee after the event!

Will there be translators at the event?
We may be able to offer live translation throughout the weekend depending on the language, so if you require a translator, please contact us.
What hotels can I book in Steinbach?
There are a few hotels available right in the city:
