After Barry Mossip used Church Renewal International (CRI) Hearing God materials to disciple members of his struggling church, they became passionate about prayer and ministering to others.
Barry Mossip preaching at Roseisle Pentecostal Assembly
When Barry started pastoring in Roseisle, a small rural community in Manitoba, Canada, his church was in survival mode. There had been no lead pastor for years, and church ministry consisted simply of a Sunday service and Bible study.
Early in mentoring, Barry realized that in order for his church to be renewed, he needed to build a foundation of prayer and hearing God’s voice. Barry used CRI’s Hearing God materials to disciple his congregation, and believers began to embrace prayer. One couple brought a big box of notebooks and pens to the following Sunday service so people could write down words they heard from God. Church members told Barry that the series taught them how to pray, and their prayer lives became deeper than ever before.
Hearing God’s voice sparked a desire in church members to meet weekly for corporate prayer. The church also set up a volunteer prayer team so people could call, email, and text prayer requests. Today, the prayer team receives requests and answers to prayer daily.
As church members grew in prayer and abiding in Christ, they also began ministering to one another. Gone are the days of only Sunday services and a single Bible study. The church now has multiple discipleship groups running regularly — all led by members of the church who heard and obeyed God’s voice.
Ask God to continue using CRI’s Hearing God materials to help believers hear his voice, obey his leading, and minister to others.
