Church Renewal in Pakistan began with a native Pakistani named Shoni Sudhir. She and her husband Mark were living in the Philippines when they connected with our CR Directors and joined a mentoring group in 2020. As Shoni learned and applied the renewal principles and experienced her own personal transformation, the Lord gave her the burden to pray for the pastors in Pakistan. She prayed for four years, ‘Lord Jesus, bring Church Renewal to Pakistan so that pastors and church workers, including my own family, will be blessed by this ministry’. God heard Shoni's prayers and answered.

While Shoni was faithfully praying, God began to work in the heart of a pastor in Pakistan named Sunil Sultan. For 18 years Pastor Sunil had faithfully served in a variety of roles in Pakistan from missionary pastor to church planter & evangelist to leading Equip Ministry for all of Pakistan. By 2022 he was exhausted, under pressure and burned out. In his own words, ‘church ministry had become a burden & a stress’. After almost two decades of church ministry, Sunil realized that he was empty and serving out of duty not out of love for God.

In the providence of God he connected with Church Renewal International and joined a weekly mentoring group. A transformation began.

Because of his renewal experience, Sunil prayed that his co-pastors in Pakistan would also be given the opportunity to join Church Renewal.

This month the Lord is answering both Shoni and Sunil’s prayers as our SE Asia Directors travel to Pakistan to present Church Renewal and a Set Free Retreat to hungry pastors in Lahore and Islamabad.
